The Lockdown Diary - DAY 44

Posted 7th May 2020 at 17:51 by Cormack
Mrs C has put out coconut bird feeders for a robin we have. I'm not a fan of robins, they're horrible territorial beasts, but you have the weight of the Christmas card industry against you in the same way you do with bears, who of course don't playfully try to steal pic-a-nic baskets but instead are several hundred pounds of killing machine.

The thing about this is that we have magpies about as well. Interesting fact about magpies - they're too heavy for their legs to support them...

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 43

Posted 6th May 2020 at 21:20 by Cormack
I embarked on Week Seven of the minimum twelve today, so nominally halfway. Dial-in and then a one-to-one with my manager on Teams which went pretty well, it seems I'm in fair spirits but then again we're making worthwhile contact regularly.

Me on Teams? I won't even go near FaceBook and I am embracing this chicanery...

Spent a lot of the evening in the kitchen, my own occupying therapy in the main, as I built a couple of lasagnes with a white sauce 'that...

Would that today were Douglas Adams's answer to Life, The Universe and Everything.

Had an unexpected call from an ex-colleague (we still meet -when we can - on occasion, text and email fairly regularly but call less frequently) during a pretty pleasant work dial-in, so I had to decline but texted him to tell him I'd ring back in ten minutes or so when I'd be done. He'd left a message and sounded a bit ominous.

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 41

Posted 4th May 2020 at 20:06 by Cormack
Sunday. Was up bizarrely early and didn't go to sleep until bizarrely late, absolutely no reason for it.

Had the scent of proper coffee today for the first time in a couple of months and oh my stars, every nostril hair was on point. I'm not a big drinker of it, do like things flavoured with it but love the smell of it and this was nasal gold.

Wasn't aware of this track but these are two artistes who I go back a long way with who you wouldn't think were my sort of...

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 40

Posted 3rd May 2020 at 08:32 by Cormack
Jesus in the desert, Jonah in the whale, Jesus's resurrection to his ascension, the rain, the rain, and Moses was a bit obsessed with the number.

40 days. I don't feel the slightest bit messianic. Mind you, when you pick the numbers out in the bible, it all looks a bit 'conspiracy theory' and 'messianic' culd be construed as 'Icke-ish'.

Saturday brownies were marshmallow and Cadbury's Caramel, which turns out is effectively a Mars-free Mars bar (or 'bar'). Daughter's...
