The Lockdown Diary - DAY 74

Posted 6th June 2020 at 19:02 by Cormack
The joy that is nets.

My eldest got to swing a bat in anger for the first time since Feb/March, and it was a pleasure to see, as it was coupled with a "car-bridge" outing to the ground, one of the most pleasant settings I attend on a regular basis. His offside play is now so metered and improved as to be deemed his stronger side by his coach, which is some development.

Rest of the day was pretty routine - the hound got to go with us so I wasn't walking her...

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 73

Posted 5th June 2020 at 19:52 by Cormack
The day the weather turned. Someone mentioned cricket and the rain fell.

The park, which had been largely underwater all winter after an outside event there set it back a decade and all but created lakes of standing water, will nevertheless continue to be suitably dry but sufficiently lush. What it did mean was that we'd have a lot of the park to ourselves.

Sadly, I couldn't exploit it as I'd had a slightly off night, but still managed the 'short loop' round the double...

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 72

Posted 4th June 2020 at 23:13 by Cormack
Did one of the longer standard dogwalks today and my calves ache a lot less. The dog has renewed her chosen slump site as with me now we're back in business.

Made the easy banoffee again and had a dial-in with our team as an imminent retiree was leaving us. Had a rum, but as it was quite early, it was a coffee rum.

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 71

Posted 3rd June 2020 at 08:51 by Cormack
I am comfortable with the title. I know I am now more 'loosely bolted down' but nothing just ended, it's a slight evolution.

Woke up to an unusual sensation of aching muscles in my calves. Quite simply, I have atrophied. I don't have the mentality to do pointless (to me) repetitive exercise, it needs to have a goal, figuratively and to a degree literally. I couldn't walk on a treadmill for even a couple of minutes but I could walk all day in changing scenery where all your senses...

The Lockdown Diary - DAY 70

Posted 2nd June 2020 at 07:54 by Cormack
A few changes today.

I wore a belt.
I wore my watch.
I carried my keys.

Started the day with two dial-ins, the first which I took in the garden as if I were a law-breaking government éminence grise and which involved me moving all of fifteen feet south rather than 250 miles north. Then, after a morning at the pithead, we got the dog ready and after 70 days of not walking past the end of the drive, we went the park.
