The Lockdown Diary - DAY 9

Posted 1st April 2020 at 22:52 by Cormack
Another day without texts - they must have played an Eagles 'Three in a Row' and he had a go at the crossword as well.

Had a really off night last night and had to catch up on my sleep mid-morning. Had two conference calls where my connection made them sound like the Norman Collier Christmas Special and the day was just stricken with guff like that. I ended up mentally worn out through the perseverance and the overspill of the physical tiredness.

Our family member has become more ill but isn't in ICU. He is breathing for himself, is on oxygen but, as a sign of how busy they are and how serious this is, made the 'goodbye' phone call to his family earlier.

We, meanwhile, continue in our own unit. Both kids were out playing footie earlier post-graft and I can't remember the last time I saw an outside person other than through glass, even when I've been out in the garden.

Watched First Blood last night and marvelled at it is the only film series that deteriorated faster than the Police Academy franchise, even down to putting Rambo in the title retrospectively.

If it doesn't rain between now and Saturday, Mr Frisk wins the National.

Stay well.

Hoping for the best for 'family member', having to make that phone call must be appalling for all concerned. My biggest fear would be me or her going without being able to say goodbye properly.

'Norman Collier Christmas Special' raised a smile.

It's amazing how limited/isolated we've all become, ML. I saw the neighbours opposite go out on bikes earlier and if I had to bet on it, I'd say the bikes are under a fortnight old - husband is a company-owning builder and wouldn't have the time usually but must be going stir crazy.

They're the first people I've seen in the wild in around a week, I think. The escalation in circumstances is, as you said, incredible when you think that Cheltenham was allowed to complete. I completed a will this week. It is frankly unreal.
